Japanese conglomerate FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation (Fujifilm) has made a significant leap towards harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) by consolidating its data infrastructure. By migrating data from over 90 core systems, including 20-plus SAP ERP systems, Fujifilm aims to make data-driven decisions, improve business intelligence, and prepare for AI integration across its operations.
To achieve this, Fujifilm is leveraging Informatica’s AI-powered Master Data Management (MDM) and data quality solutions. These tools enable the company to manage critical data domains such as product codes, sales, inventory, and business partner information, with a focus on enhancing data quality and consistency. The goal is to centrally manage and utilize this data across departments and divisions globally.
Takaharu Furusho, Senior Manager of Fujifilm’s ICT Strategy Department, highlighted that Informatica’s solution has provided the company with a unified, cross-functional view of data generated daily from its global operations. “This adoption has empowered our management to use trusted data to operate efficiently and make data-driven decisions to unlock valuable insights,” Furusho stated.
Fujifilm has strategically moved from a component-based approach, where each department had specialized systems, to a platform-based solution aimed at optimizing data management. Rather than migrating core systems, Fujifilm created shared functions to meet the needs of the entire group, thus enhancing operational efficiency.
Taito Kozawa, Country Manager and President of Informatica Japan, noted that the company’s solutions have enabled Fujifilm to establish a single, comprehensive view of data across its diverse business units. Additionally, training and support from Informatica have equipped Fujifilm’s ICT employees with the skills necessary to develop in-house solutions and improve data management practices. The ability to make system modifications without coding and to test these changes with minimal effort has been particularly beneficial.
Looking ahead, Fujifilm plans to advance self-service business intelligence (BI), integrate AI into management decision-making, and further enhance data utilization. This strategic overhaul of data management not only sets the stage for AI-driven innovations but also positions Fujifilm to harness valuable insights that drive efficiency and profitability.
