Integrated communication and computing capability at RAN base stations enable RAN Computing
Native-AI-based RAN Computing improves user experience by 15% and increases network traffic by 5%
ZTE Corporation, in collaboration with Indonesian telecommunications leader Smartfren, has successfully deployed Native-AI-based RAN Computing commercially, achieving notable business outcomes with a 15% improvement in user experience and a 5% increase in network traffic.
As service applications evolve, mobile networks face more complex challenges beyond handling large volumes of connections. Delivering differentiated experiences, such as high-throughput for HD video and low latency for online gaming, demands a network strategy tailored to specific service applications. This has accelerated the integration of artificial intelligence into Radio Access Network (RAN) systems.
ZTE’s RAN Computing, driven by Native AI, uniquely integrates communication and computing within the base station. As the network element closest to users, ZTE RAN Computing maximizes network infrastructure efficiency by allocating radio resources based on service and terminal requirements, ensuring optimal user experience across diverse applications.
“This successful deployment marks a significant milestone in integrating AI into mobile networks,” stated Shurish Subbramaniam, CTIO of Smartfren. “Introducing IT RAN into our Mobile Network Infrastructure creates new opportunities to enhance data yield efficiency, improve user loyalty with optimal experiences, and stimulate traffic growth. In the 5G era, ZTE RAN Computing will play a key role in reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).”
Richard Liang, President Director of ZTE Indonesia, added, “Through our collaboration with Smartfren, ZTE continues to drive wireless network innovations, transforming them into compelling solutions for Smartfren’s digital transformation journey.”
Looking ahead, ZTE and Smartfren will continue to collaborate on innovation and digital transformation. This strategic alliance aims to revolutionize the digital landscape, advancing digital life and contributing to the broader digital economy.
