Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s CEO, has articulated a vision of an AI-empowered workforce that promises to boost the company’s productivity across its various sectors. His ambitious plan includes deploying millions of AI assistants to support NVIDIA’s operations.
“I’m hoping that Nvidia someday will be a 50,000 employee company with a 100 million, you know, AI assistants, in every single group,” Huang stated during a “Bg2” podcast episode. These AI assistants are poised to revolutionize task management by breaking down complex assignments into smaller, more manageable tasks, enhancing efficiency throughout the organization.
Huang also shared his personal experience with AI agents, noting their current application in fields such as cybersecurity, chip design, and software engineering within NVIDIA. “AIs will recruit other AIs to solve problems. AIs will be in Slack channels with each other and with humans,” he explained. “So we’ll just be one large employee base if you will — some of them are digital and AI, and some of them are biological.”
The CEO highlighted that AI’s integration within companies could bolster employment rather than diminish it. With increased productivity resulting from AI, the likelihood of layoffs diminishes, as improved earnings and growth are expected outcomes. Huang has previously heralded robots as the next major development in AI, with applications like self-driving cars and humanoid robots leading the way.
In Huang’s view, the collaboration between humans and AI will be crucial. Humans will prioritize problems, while AI will facilitate the automation of solutions, necessitating a larger workforce. NVIDIA, renowned for its graphic processing units, has seen a significant rise in demand, positioning it as a key player in the AI sector. This has drawn comparisons from industry leaders, such as Meta’s AI chief Yann LeCun, who likened Huang to a “weapons supplier” in the ongoing AI advancements.
Joining other tech giants, Huang is investing in AI agents to maintain a competitive edge. Similar initiatives are underway at companies like Salesforce and Google, where leaders like Marc Benioff and Sundar Pichai are pioneering the development of AI agents with advanced capabilities. This trend underscores the growing importance of AI agents, with startups also entering the fray to create or develop these innovative tools for various applications.
