Honeywell has unveiled a suite of AI-driven solutions poised to revolutionize plant operations by making systems more efficient and empowering employees to work smarter. Leveraging its extensive industry expertise and the latest in AI technology, Honeywell is integrating these capabilities into both new and existing solutions, offering a comprehensive AI experience from field workers to enterprise executives.
In the energy sector, businesses face a dual challenge: a shortage of skilled labor and the imperative to boost efficiency without compromising quality. Honeywell’s AI solutions address these issues by enhancing decision-making speed, operational efficiency, and workforce productivity. A noteworthy collaboration with Chevron aims to further refine these AI solutions, particularly in refining operations.
Among Honeywell’s new offerings is the Experion Operations Assistant. This tool embeds explainable AI into industrial processes, helping operators swiftly identify and solve production issues with guided, step-by-step instructions. This not only optimizes operations but also accelerates the learning curve for less experienced operators by tapping into Honeywell’s vast industry knowledge.
A survey commissioned by Honeywell of 1,600 global AI executive leaders revealed that nearly two-thirds see AI’s potential to significantly boost worker efficiency and productivity. This aligns with Honeywell’s strategic focus on automation and workforce development.
Lucian Boldea, President and CEO of Honeywell Industrial Automation, emphasizes the importance of AI in bridging the skills gap in the industrial workforce. “AI-enabled technologies improve performance, allowing workers to enhance efficiency and accelerate their expertise,” he stated.
Honeywell’s Field Process Knowledge System (PKS) and its AI-powered field assistant, developed using Honeywell Forge, are designed to streamline operations and maintenance. This includes a web-based platform for supervisors and a mobile device for field workers, centralizing tasks related to operations, maintenance, permits, and documentation.
Additional AI-enhanced solutions include the Honeywell Experion® PKS, which now provides predictive advisories and troubleshooting to maintain optimal system operations, and Honeywell Production Intelligence, which integrates OT and IT data to deliver actionable insights and predictive analytics.
While the potential benefits of AI are significant, businesses must also consider the challenges of integration, such as the need for skilled personnel to manage new technologies and the initial investment involved. However, the long-term gains in efficiency and productivity make Honeywell’s AI solutions a compelling proposition for companies looking to stay ahead in a competitive landscape.
