Google has unveiled major AI upgrades for Workspace, targeting workflow automation and smarter content creation for businesses. The new Workspace Flows feature allows teams to automate complex, multistep processes using simple language, eliminating the need for coding or rigid rule-based systems. These AI “Gems” analyze context and data to manage tasks like policy reviews, quality checks on marketing materials, and customer support triage directly within Workspace apps.
Workspace Flows can connect with files from Google Drive and integrate with third-party platforms, making it easier to streamline operations across different tools. This means companies can reduce manual work, cut operational costs, and allow employees to focus on higher-value activities.
Core Workspace tools are also receiving AI enhancements. Google Docs users will soon generate audio versions or summaries of documents, and receive advanced writing suggestions that improve tone and structure—not just grammar. In Google Sheets, the new “Help me analyze” feature acts as an AI analyst, turning raw data into actionable insights and charts, making data-driven decision-making accessible to everyone, not just experts.
For video content, Google Vids now uses the Veo 2 model, letting users quickly create original, realistic video clips for business presentations or marketing. Communication tools are getting smarter too: in Google Meet, Gemini summarizes missed meeting points in real time and helps clarify discussions. In Google Chat, Gemini can summarize group conversations, highlight open questions, and track action items to boost team alignment.
These advancements are already making an impact, with more than 2 billion AI assists delivered each month in Workspace. Companies like Air Liquide, Etsy, Salesforce, and Whirlpool are leveraging these tools to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and unlock new business value.
