Amusement giant Six Flags recently revealed a suite of new artificial intelligence (AI)-driven technologies aimed at augmenting the enjoyment of park-goers.
At the start of the year, Six Flags announced what it referred to as the ‘largest digital collaboration in the theme park sector,’ intended to revolutionize visitor experiences across its locations.
This ambitious alliance has roped in major tech players including Google, Dell, and other prominent names such as HCLTech, Snowflake, mobile app specialist Fueled, and Pure Imagination Studios for entertainment solutions.
Our guests are at the heart of everything we do, and this digital transformation is a testament to our commitment to providing unparalleled experiences where technology meets fun and excitement,
stated Selim Bassoul, CEO of Six Flags.
According to a press statement, a significant aspect of Six Flags’ digital strategy centers around AI. The company’s upcoming website revamp, set to launch this year, will utilize AI to tailor the visitor journey.
The introduction of a new digital concierge service, Missi Six, powered by generative AI, is awaited on the Six Flags app and website. The app will also feature enhancements such as interactive maps, mobile food ordering, and personalized recommendations.
Moreover, a newly designed digital wallet will centralize loyalty benefits and facilitate seamless payments throughout Six Flags’ amusement and water parks.
In a move to further modernize the park experience, advanced video and photo capture technology is being integrated into roller coasters. Notably, Six Flags is launching the largest esports initiative and a novel metaverse gaming platform within the theme park industry.
For food and beverage services and retail, the company is implementing self-service kiosks, QR codes, NFC technology for expedited ordering, and plans to add self-checkout options for retail purchases.
Enhancements extend to operational improvements with new sensors across the parks providing accurate ride wait times and an innovative parking system that uses computer vision and AI for license plate recognition.
Additionally, Six Flags’ water parks are set to deploy what is claimed to be ‘the world’s most comprehensive AI drowning prevention system’.
We are transforming Six Flags into a technology-centric entertainment company. With the formation of the largest global digital alliance in the theme park industry, we are setting the foundation to lead with innovation and digital excellence,
explained Omar Jacques Omran, chief digital officer of Six Flags.
Indeed, Six Flags is reinventing amusement by infusing technology to create a more personalized and efficient visitor experience.
