The forthcoming Vision, Robotics & Motion trade fair promises to immerse attendees in the realm of automation and digitization on June 5 and 6, 2024. Located at the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch, the event will display the latest in collaborative robots (cobots) and precision vision technologies. “The drive for automation in manufacturing arises from several factors, including the persistent labor shortages that necessitate greater efficiency, and the ever-tightening product specifications. Robots and cobots provide viable solutions. Our fair offers a platform to explore these options and facilitates networking among businesses,” shares Charlotte de Jong, the event’s program manager at Mikrocentrum, the organizer.
The edition for the year will introduce a fresh segment dedicated to Digital Innovation, spotlighting digitization solutions for the manufacturing sector. “Digitization is a precursor to automation; one rarely exists without the other. The interplay of both at the fair creates a compelling narrative,” remarks Timo van Leent, head of the Events Department at Mikrocentrum. “It’s an opportunity for business owners to stay abreast with current trends and draw inspiration from successful case studies.”
Why Automation and Digitalization Matter
The manufacturing landscape is being reshaped by the twin forces of digitalization and automation, with rapid advancements marking the industry’s trajectory. Platforms like the Vision, Robotics & Motion trade fair provide professionals with a snapshot of existing capabilities and a vision of future trends.
Van Leent notes the particular need for smaller enterprises to access guidance in initiating their digital and automated transformations, given their limited ICT resources. “The fair equips entrepreneurs with insights into the potential of digitalization and automation,” he explains. The event will boast numerous exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge technologies, alongside a plethora of workshops and lectures.
De Jong highlights the fair’s broad appeal, “From novices to seasoned players in automation and digitalization, there’s value for all. Networking is a pivotal aspect of the event, offering rapid connections with a diverse set of industry stakeholders, including technology providers, consultants, and funding bodies.”
The Digital Innovation Cornerstone
Among the exhibitors at the new Digital Innovation segment is Xibis, a software firm delivering tailored solutions for the manufacturing industry. “Effective digitization and automation are predicated on a robust ERP system,” asserts Sijmon van den Berg, general manager at Xibis. Catering to diverse sectors such as machinery, aerospace, and electronics, Xibis aims to eliminate the need for paper within organizations.
The Power of Learning and Exploration
The trade fair’s comprehensive lecture program complements the exhibitor displays, with sessions providing insights into software applications in various industrial contexts. For instance, Dennis van Kleef of Schiphol Group will present a talk on automating airport baggage systems, offering inspiration to those working on similar automation challenges in warehousing, outlines De Jong. The fair is thus a cornerstone for strengthening industry networks and inspiring innovation among entrepreneurs.
Open to the public without charge, Vision, Robotics & Motion will take place on June 5 and 6, 2024, at the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch. Registration is available on the event’s website.
