Google has signaled the commencement of the application phase for the 8th installment of its Google for Startups Accelerator Africa initiative. The program, which spans three months, is designed to be equity-free and virtual, offering African startups the chance to be mentored, access technical resources, and connect with a worldwide network of specialists and investors. Since its launch in 2018, the initiative has provided support to 106 startups across 17 African nations. These startups have gone on to collectively secure over $263 million in funding, contributing to the creation of more than 2,800 jobs directly.
The tech behemoth has highlighted that the forthcoming cohort will focus particularly on startups that are utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to solve pressing issues and explore new opportunities across Africa.
